Cornelia (Connie) Kurth-Bowen was born in East Germany and migrated to the United States at an early age. Because her grandparents lived behind the “Iron Curtain”, Connie was unable to see and/or develop a relationship with them. The absence of not having grandparents in her life helped to fuel a desire to serve seniors in any way that she could. So at the age of 15, Connie began working in Nursing Homes.
She received her B.A. in Biology and Psychology from Rice University and went on to complete the Physician Assistant Program at Baylor College of Medicine. In 1980, Connie Kurth married Dr. Samuel Bowen, and they went on to raise two sons and a special needs daughter.
Connie and Dr. Bowen shared the same intense passion of caring for the elderly. They worked closely together in the field of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics for over thirty years. This passion helped create and develop the vision that would become BPUC Assisted Living On-Site Care. Sadly, Dr. Samuel Bowen passed away on January 19, 2021, but his vision and legacy will continue through Connie and the BPUC family.
Reading, gardening, and traveling with family and friends are just a few of Connie’s “favorite things.” Her true pride and joy comes from being with her granddaughters. A musical? A ballet? A walk in the park? Who knows what is on the agenda? Whatever it is, it will surely be an adventure!
